ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

Anchorage police are searching for a missing Eagle River man last seen by neighbors near Hiland Road nearly two weeks ago.

APD spokesperson Dani Myren says search efforts continue Monday for 58-year-old Stephen Gingrich, following a Saturday alert issued in response to a concerned neighbor's report.

"Searches have been conducted in the areas around both Mr. Gingrich’s residence as well as in the vicinity of his Eagle River cabin, and a number of his known associates have been contacted in an ongoing attempt to determine his whereabouts," Myren wrote in a Monday update.

The initial report mentioned an assessment of Gingrich's condition by those who lived near him as a factor in APD's concern for him.

“Neighbors believe this to be atypical of Mr. Gingrich and have advised that he may be mentally vulnerable,” Myren wrote.

Gingrich stands about 6 feet tall and weighs about 175 pounds; according to police, he has long, sand-colored hair and blue eyes.

No signs of foul play have been discovered.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 786-8900.
