A disturbance reported at an East Anchorage residence Friday afternoon which drew a response from local SWAT units turned out to be nothing more than a man screaming himself, according to local police.

According to APD spokesperson Dani Myren, all on-duty SWAT units were sent to a mobile home in the Golden Nugget Camper Park at 4100 DeBarr Rd., in response to calls from neighbors that came in at about 4:30 p.m.

"They reported that seems to be a physical male-female disturbance," Myren said. "There's a lot of screaming, yelling, violence."

Neighbors also saw the residence rocking during the incident, with arriving units using a loudspeaker to speak with the man.

After police made contact with the man, however, they determined that the initial reports were inaccurate.

"There's no female; there appears to be no crime," Myren said. "He was alone and yelling and engaging in highly erratic behavior."

Myren says police are working with both the man and the owner of the park, who asked that the man be removed from the property. Police at the scene had taken him into custody Friday evening.

"It's not against the law to yell at yourself," Myren said.
