A Palmer woman was arrested on several drug-related charges after investigators from the Mat-Su Drug Unit searched a Chevy Malibu she was driving and found drugs and a loaded handgun.

Alaska State Troopers are still trying to locate the passenger, who fled from the scene.

AST spokesperson Megan Peters said the search came after a the vehicle was seized during a planned stop on Oct. 2. A day later with a search warrant, investigators found 53 bags of methamphetamine packaged for sale, 23 grams of psychedelic mushrooms and $1,000 cash were found in the vehicle.

The driver, 27-year-old Aniska Demienteff of Palmer, was arrested on charges of misconduct involving controlled substances and misconduct involving a weapon.

Bail was set at $5,000.

The passenger is expected to face similar charges, but AST has not released the name because charges have not yet been field, according to Peters.
