ANCHORAGE, Alaska -

A man severely assaulted last Saturday after "bar-break" has died from his injuries.

Adrian Augustine, 38, was beaten in a downtown parking lot behind the Gaslight Lounge around 3:15 a.m., October 19th.

Anchorage Police Department detectives are investigating the incident as a homicide and are seeking multiple suspects.

"We do have reason to believe that there are a fair number of witnesses, you could say a lot of people; we have interviewed many of them so far, but we have reason to believe there could be quite a few more," APD Chief Mark Mew said Friday.

When police arrived on scene, Augustine was unconscious with serious injuries to his head and body.  His wife was taken to a hospital and underwent treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

APD Spokesperson Jennifer Castro says there were other victims who were assaulted during the incident; those victims suffered non-life threatening injuries.  Castro declined to say if weapons were used in the incident.

Gaslight Lounge owner John Patee says he turned over surveillance video of the parking lot to APD.  He says the victims and suspects never entered his bar before the incident.

"The problem is you got a small group of people that aren't even our patrons that come out at that time, and they're looking for trouble, looking for victims," Patee said Friday.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call police dispatch at 786-8900. Anonymous tips can be directed to Anchorage Crime Stoppers at 561-STOP.

This is the 17th suspected homicide this year in Anchorage.

Patee and other bar owners are scheduled to meet with the Downtown Partnership Monday to discuss bar safety.
