The Chugiak Volunteer Fire Department says nobody was inside a trailer that burned on the Old Glenn Highway Friday, but the structure is a total loss.
CVFD spokesperson David Eastman says the call reporting the blaze placed it at the 16500 block of the highway.
"We arrived to the mobile home being about 50 percent fully engulfed," Eastman said. "There was one occupant on scene, but he was not in the trailer."
The two engines and three tenders that responded were able to contain the fire in about 40 minutes, with the fire extinguished in about an hour.
"The mobile home was a complete loss as was the shed attached," Eastman said. "Three other trailers were up against it, but we were able to save those."
The trailer's occupant is receiving assistance with housing from the Red Cross.
