A Delta Junction teen has been arrested on charges of arson and theft following an investigation into a house fire.

Alaska State Troopers reported a 16 year old suspect was taken into custody Monday following an investigation into a fire at a Clearwater Ext residence on Sunday. The home was allegedly set on fire by the boy to cover up a theft at the residence after forcibly breaking in.

During an interview with the suspect, it was discovered that a fire that destroyed the Clearwater Lodge in June was also set by him.

The suspect was remanded to the Fairbanks Youth Facility on charges of Arson, Theft, and “other offenses in connection with” the two fires.

An investigation into both fires is ongoing, and it is unclear if more people were involved.
