A Southeast Alaska single-vehicle crash briefly closed the Haines Highway Thursday night and sent a woman to a local medical facility, according to Alaska State Troopers.

In a Friday AST dispatch, troopers say they arrived at the scene at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

“Investigation revealed that Sarah Roark, age 40 of Haines, was traveling southbound near milepost 7 when she lost control of her 1997 Subaru and sideswiped a guardrail,” troopers wrote. “The vehicle then crossed the roadway and struck the cliff face.”

Roark was treated and released at the Haines Clinic for hand injuries, while troopers closed the highway for about an hour to recover the Subaru and investigate the crash.
