Since 2011, the amount of business licenses purchased in Anchorage has more than doubled.
From 2012 to 2013, there has been a 70 percent increase in the acquisition of business licenses.
Kathryn Fagerstrom, the program coordinator for the state's Division of Cooperations, calls the rise a "significant leap."
"This is a clear indicator of the economy in Anchorage is strong and growing," Fagerstrom said.
Data provided by Fagerstrom, breaks down the areas of business that has seen the most growth.
Some of the most notable lines of business are agriculture, construction, education services and finance.
