ANCHORAGE -

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 50-year-old Juneau man after he injured his leg and fell through the ice and into a creek.

Timothy Powers contacted Alaska State Troopers on his cell phone at 6:19 p.m. Friday to report Jeffrey Jones had fallen through thin ice approximately a mile from the Admiralty Cove cabin.

Jones injured his leg.

A Coast Guard helicopter responded to the area and picked Jones and Powers.

Jones was then transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment.
