A Kodiak woman was medevaced from Saltery Cove Friday by a U.S. Coast Guard crew after being involved in an ATV crash.

The Kodiak Police Department issued an alert after receiving a call about a 50-year-old woman who'd been injured in an ATV crash, and who required emergency assistance.

“Due to the nature of the injuries and the remote location of the accident the safest and most effective way to transport this survivor was using a Coast Guard helicopter,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Justin Monk, an aviation survival technician at Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak.

The woman was transported to Kodiak Municipal Airport, where waiting medical personnel received her to be treated at a local hospital.
