STONY RIVER, Alaska -

A 35-year-old Lime Village man required medical treatment in Anchorage after crashing his snowmachine.

Alaska State Troopers say the man was driving Monday afternoon on the Kuskokwim River to Stony River when his snowmachine broke through shelf ice.

A ski caught on the shelf ice and the machine flipped.

The driver suffered a head injury but did not lose consciousness.

Troopers say he restarted his snowmachine and drove to Stony River Lodge, where he was given medical assistance.

Troopers were summoned at 3:21 p.m. and Rescue Coordination Center responders flew him to Anchorage.

The man's name was not released.
