A meeting is scheduled for Wednesday in Fairbanks to allow state workers to ask questions about their new health insurance coverage.
The state in January switched providers for employees and retirees and their families. The change from HealthSmart to Aetna came with a different network of doctors accepted by the program. Aetna representatives are scheduled to attend the meeting, as are representatives of Moda Delta Dental of Alaska, the new dental insurance administrator.
Michele Michaud is the chief health official for the Alaska Division of Retirement and Benefits. She tells the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner there were some problems with the change, including issues with prescription benefits and late arrival of medical identification cards.
The meeting was one of three planned this week. Others were slated for Anchorage and Juneau.
