ANCHORAGE -

An injury collision drew police and medics to a Midtown intersection Monday night, with sporadic road closures reported in the area.

According to Anchorage Police Department messages posted on Twitter starting at about 6:15 p.m., police were responding to a wreck at Elmore Road’s intersection with Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of Martin Luther King Jr. were initially blocked at Elmore, with an APD tweet saying eastbound lanes were open as of shortly after 6:30 p.m.

APD spokesperson Jennifer Castro says one person has been taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Further details about the crash weren’t immediately available Monday evening.

Officers at the scene say the vehicle in the crash, a GMC Sierra pickup truck, was headed west on Martin Luther King Jr. when it struck the curb and lost control. It subsequently traveled into the median, where it struck a small boulder and ended up in Martin Luther King Jr.'s eastbound lanes.

A tow truck was beginning to recover the truck shortly after 7 p.m., when officers stopped the work to further investigate the crash.
