ANCHORAGE -

A motorcyclist died from injuries sustained during a Thursday morning crash with a large truck pulling a trailer.

Shortly after 8 a.m., a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Dowling Road collided with a bar that connected a dump truck and a trailer, according to Anchorage Police Department spokesperson Jennifer Castro.

The truck was turning westbound onto Dowling Road from Petersburg Street, not far from Lake Otis Parkway.

The unidentified motorcyclist was wearing a helmet but died about an hour after the crash at a local hospital.

At 11:30 a.m. traffic was still being re-routed in the area:  eastbound and westbound lanes of Dowling from Quinhagak to Burlwood Streets are closed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, and the identity of the victim will be released when next-of-kin has been notified.
