ANCHORAGE -

A man who previously worked as a lifeguard for the Municipality of Anchorage was arrested on charges of distributing and possessing child pornography.

Jonathan Daniel Sabet, 22, was arrested Wednesday after an undercover investigation that lasted months.

Det. James Estes of the Anchorage Police Department Cyber Crimes Unit started investigating Sabet in April, and since then Estes said he received multiple illegal videos depicting sexual exploitation of children from Sabet.

The Alaska Internet Crimes against Children Task Force served an arrest warrant at Sabet's home on W. 23rd Avenue and seized his computer, which according to police contained further evidence of child pornography.

Holly Spoth-Torres of the Parks and Recreation Department said in a press release that Sabet was hired Oct. 29, 2010, as a lifeguard for the Municipality of Anchorage.

He worked at the East High School swimming pool and passed two background checks conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation that were required for his employment, according to Spoth-Torres.

Anyone who believes their child had an inappropriate interaction with Sabet, and anyone with additional information that could be helpful, is encouraged to contact APD at 907-786-8500.
