ANCHORAGE -

Anchorage police say an early morning home collision Saturday was the result of drinking and driving.

Just after 2:30 a.m., police received a 911 call from Atkinson drive homeowners trapped in their bedroom after a 2000 Jeep Cherokee crashed into their living room and kitchen, obstructing their path from their location. Officer arriving on scene discovered the occupants of the vehicle had fled, but identified Evan Schubert, 19, as the suspected driver.

Investigation revealed Schubert lost control of his vehicle while traveling eastbound on Kepner drive. He collided with a vehicle in a driveway before crashing into the house itself. Fire crews were called to the scene to assist the homeowners, who were uninjured.

Schubert was located a short time later and was arrested after providing a breath sample that confirmed a blood-alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit. He was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Criminal Mischief in the third degree, Leaving the Scene of An Accident, and seven counts of Reckless Endangerment, with bail set at $11,000.
