ANCHORAGE -

A woman is seriously injured after a Midtown hit-and-run crash Friday night, with Anchorage police still looking for the suspect vehicle.

Anchorage police say the victim was crossing the New Seward Highway between Northern Lights and Benson boulevards at about 11 p.m. when she was hit by a sedan. Police report the vehicle sped southbound after the collision.

Police describe the injuries as "life-altering."

The vehicle that the police suspect hit the woman is a silver, four-door sedan with black mirrors. The passenger-side mirror was left behind after the crash. Police say there may front-end damage to the passenger side of the fender area on the car.
