Three missing men were found and returned safely to their homes over the weekend, and police say a watchful public was instrumental in the success of those cases.

Gabe Debrill, 26, Curtis Lynch, 62, and Wesley Bruno, 65, were considered at risk by authorities for various mental and physical health reasons, and quick action by the public on social media sites helped spread the word on their status, and eventually, their locations.

"We appreciate the public's help in sharing this information and looking out for our citizens," Anchorage Police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said when the men were finally located.

Since May 1, 2014, eight of nine adults reported missing to the general public have been found, thanks in no small part to their fellow citizens.
