Pterosaur Soars in Mt. View, Name an 80 Million Year Old Dinosaur
A replica of a pterosaur now soars at the Alaska Museum of Science and Nature in Mt. View. The museum wants your help to name the 80 million year old dinosaur.
The life-size model weighs about 800 pounds and moved in a week ago in five separate pieces.
The Denali pterosaur had an aerial view during late Cretaceous period.
“This is probably the biggest life-size replica you're going see of a dinosaur, at least in Anchorage or if you have a time machine,” said Jeff Attridge, development director at Alaska Museum of Science and Nature.
Museum staff says the last time they had an exhibit this large was when they featured a T-Rex skeleton originally from Australia.
The museum is located at 201 N. Bragaw and name the pterosaur contest ends on Nov. 23.
