A woman’s remains found in Indian have been positively identified as those of a Wasilla woman missing for more than three years, according to Alaska State Troopers.
In a Tuesday AST dispatch, troopers say the state medical examiner’s office in Anchorage has identified 26-year-old Nichole M. Millsaps’ body.
AST spokesperson Megan Peters didn't immediately have any further details on the discovery Tuesday afternoon.
Her skull was found by a hiker off Boretide Road on the morning of Feb. 9, a break in a case that began with Millsaps’ disappearance in May 2010.
According to an organizer with Seeking Alaska's Missing, the group hasn't been in touch with Millsaps' family but has been monitoring the discovery.
Millsaps’ next of kin have been notified.
