A 37-year-old Mountain Village man was arrested by Alaska State Troopers for allegedly stabbing his older brother.

AST spokesperson Beth Ipsen said the 38-year-old victim was sitting and reading a newspaper when Luther Aguchak stabbed him once in the stomach with a five-inch serrated steak knife.

"So far we believe the attack was unprovoked, that the two were sitting at the house when this happened," Ipsen said.

Aguchak was arrested on a charge of first-degree domestic violence assault and transported to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.

His brother was transported to Bethel to be treated for injuries that are not life threatening.
