Alaska State Troopers are seeking a Fairbanks Correctional Center inmate who escaped from custody Wednesday while she was being transported from a local halfway house.

In a Thursday AST dispatch, troopers say 37-year-old Laura M. Mulcahy’s escape while en route from the North Star Center was reported at about 2:40 p.m.

“Investigation revealed (Mulcahy) had escaped while being transported at the intersection of Airport Way and Cowles Street,” troopers wrote.

AST spokesperson Megan Peters deferred questions on details of the escape to the state Department of Corrections, saying troopers are primarily concerned with recapturing Mulcahy.

DOC spokesperson Sherrie Daigle says nobody was injured during the escape.

“She was being transported from North Star back to the Fairbanks correctional facility,” Daigle said. “She decided to get out of the vehicle.”

Anyone with information on Mulcahy’s whererabouts should call Fairbanks troopers at 907-451-5100.
