Two lodge employees brandished a weapon against a guest during an altercation early Saturday morning, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Troopers received word at 12:43 a.m. that a possible assault involving a firearm had occurred at the Icy Bay Lodge west of Yakutat. After waiting for enough daylight for visibility, an Alaska Wildlife trooper and a Yakutat police officer flew out to the lodge in a trooper aircraft, arriving at 6:50 a.m.
Their investigation revealed that two employees of the lodge, 26-year-old Michael York of Colorado and 35-year-old Devon Fernandez of Virginia, were in a physical argument with a guest, when York brandished a firearm in what troopers determined to be a threatening manner.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.
York and Fernandez were taken into custody and charged with Assault in the third degree. Both were arraigned in Yakutat and held on $10,000 cash bonds.
