ANCHORAGE -

An Omak, Washington, woman working in Alaska this summer has been rescued from the edge of a cliff.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports 18-year-old Cherelle LaGrou was rescued Sunday. She was hiking on a ridge atop Fox Creek, near Denali National Park, when she slid 30 feet down the side of the mountain.

She was able to stop herself before continuing off the edge of the 60-foot cliff but couldn't climb up or down.

LaGrou called a relative in Washington State on a cellphone for help. The relative then contacted LaGrou's employer, who called Alaska State Troopers.

Two troopers climbed the ridge, secured her with a rope and rescued her.
