Anchorage police are investigating a shooting late Wednesday near the Dimond Center mall, during which two people were injured.

Police responded to reports of the shooting involving two groups in 12 separate vehicles, outside the Sports Authority store just east of the mall across the Old Seward Highway, at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday. Channel 2's Adam Pinsker saw police searching the area near McDonald's for evidence.

At least one female was injured during the shooting, police say, and has been transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. Her status was unavailable, as was that of another unidentified person taken to Providence Hospital.

An officer on scene says multiple persons of interest are in custody and being interviewed in relation to the incident, but as of 1 a.m., no arrests have been made.
