ANCHORAGE -- On a Monday evening in August, a naked man bleeding from his forehead jumped from the second-story window of an East Anchorage motel in a frantic search for help.

He made it a couple blocks before someone offered clothes and a phone to call the Anchorage Police Department.

When officers arrived, the man said he had been physically and sexually assaulted by two men and a woman.

In a room at the Arctic Tern Inn, the group ordered him to remove his clothes and assume a "three point" stance on the ground. Then a Maglite flashlight was placed in his mouth, and four bullets were put inside him with a broomstick.

When the sexual assault ended, the group momentarily left him alone, giving enough time to sprint to the bathroom and jump out the window.

Those are the allegations contained in a bail memorandum entered in court Friday, when Casey Rider Jones, 25, and Lydell Tyler Butler, 24, were charged with sexual assault and weapons misconduct for the alleged Aug. 11 incident.

Police report that the men were taken into custody Aug. 12 and that Jones was taken to Providence Alaska Medical Center for a possible drug overdose before being transferred to jail.

A disagreement over heroin is apparently behind the alleged incident.

The suspects appeared alongside one another at a Friday court hearing when they formally became defendants.

Both the men entered not guilty pleas.

Superior Court Judge Kevin Saxby ordered both men held in lieu of $200,000 cash appearance bond and $100,000 cash performance bond. A third-party custodian would be required to secure release ahead of a planned November trial.

"There's real potential for witness intimidation," Saxby said. "A high amount is appropriate here."

When leaving the courtroom, Jones turned toward television cameras and said, "Not guilty, racial profiling."
