The Alaska unemployment rate in October dropped slightly to 7.1 percent, and state economists say “no definitive trend in Alaska’s rate in either direction has been evident this year.”
In September, the state’s unemployment rate sat at 7.5 percent. New jobless numbers were released Friday by the State Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
The national jobless rate in October was 7.9 percent.
State labor officials said the biggest over-the-month change happened in Skagway with tourism season ending. The southeast city’s jobless percent in September was 2.4 percent and jumped to 17.3 percent in October.
