“No evidence of foul play” was found at separate scenes where two men were found dead over the weekend, according to the Anchorage Police Department.
On Saturday afternoon, Anchorage police said 34-year-old Billy Willie was found on the ground in the snow near West 36th Avenue and Springer Street.
His girlfriend told police that she and Willie were drinking and slept outdoors and when she woke up he was not breathing, according to Lt. Dave Parker, APD Public Information Officer. She asked a passer-by to call police and the responding officers tried to administer CPR, however the Anchorage Fire Department medics declared Willie dead on scene.
On Sunday evening, 42-year-old David Pete Jr. was found not breathing at the sleep-off facility at the Anchorage Jail Complex. Police said efforts to revive were unsuccessful.
APD said the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct investigations and determine the cause and manner of death for both victims.
