Pickerel Lake: Lucille Lucy Kerl of Pickerel Lake passed peacefully away Sunday, April 1, 2012.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Coester Funeral Home in Webster, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Coester Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.
Lucille was born Dec. 14, 1928, in Britton to Dean and Matie (Gibbs) Honey. She attended school in Groton and graduated from Groton High School in 1946. She then met Harlow, and they were married on July 9, 1950, in Groton. Together, they moved to Chicago so Harlow could attend school and Lucy worked for the Dow Chemical Company as a stenographer. When Harlow finished school, they moved back to South Dakota. They lived in Aberdeen until Harlow retired and they moved to their home on Pickerel Lake in 1996.
Lucy was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends; she also enjoyed playing games and was a good cook.
She is survived by her husband, Harlow of Pickerel Lake; two sons: Jamie (Jane) Kerl of Lincoln, Neb., and Brian (Sandy) Kerl of Bonner Springs, Kan.; one daughter, Brenda (Jess) Goodwin of Pocatello, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kevin Kerl; one grandson, Andrew Goodwin; and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials sent to Shrine Children's Hospital, C/O Yelduz Shrine Mosque, 802 S. Main St., Aberdeen, SD 57401.
