Colette was born in Madison on June 17, 1921, to Julius and Lydia (Vreyens) Hartman. Following a diagnosis of epileptic seizures, Coletta moved to the South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield on Sept. 9, 1935. She spent her life there until moving to the halfway house in Redfield in 1974. There she met Lelan Galbreath, and on Oct. 15, 1976, they were married. They lived most of their married life in the Heartland apartments in Redfield. After Lelan's death in 1994, Coletta stayed in the apartment until 2007, when she was moved to Lakeside Assisted Living Center and from there to Golden Living Center.
Coletta was known by most people in Redfield, and tended children for many of them.
She belonged to St. Bernard's Catholic Church and led the rosary faithfully. She also loved to sing the hymns.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Beatrice (Elmer) Larsen of Winnemucca, Nev.; James (Dolly) Hartman of Brookings; Rozanne Broomhead, Patricia (Jeff) Deelstra, Judith (Richard) Nelson and Jerald (Cathy) Hartman, all of Salt Lake City, Utah.
