Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, with military graveside rites by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post No. 24.
There will be a prayer service Sunday at 5 p.m., with visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ervin died Jan. 3, 2013, at Avera Mother Joseph Manor.
Ervin W. Marzolf, son of Christ and Theresa (Pfeifle) Marzolf, was born Dec. 11, 1924, at Venturia, N.D. He grew up on a farm west of Ashley, N.D. He entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II and was honorably discharged.
He was united in marriage to Florence Kautz on Nov. 26, 1947, at Ashley. They moved to Aberdeen, where he worked for Spaulding Auto, eventually working his way into sales. Spaulding Auto was then sold and became Pierson’s Auto. Ervin then became employed with Johnson’s Motors, where he worked in sales until his retirement.
Ervin was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed talking to people. He was a determined, soft-hearted man.
Ervin is survived by his wife, Florence of 65 years; daughter, Fern (Robert) Sanders of Aberdeen; three grandchildren: Paul (Hilary) Sanders of Idaho Falls, Idaho, James (Alissa) Sanders of Blaine, Minn., and Erin (Ben) Roselle of Maple Grove, Minn.; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Florence Golz of Lodi, Calif., and Bernice (Andy) Dutenhoeffer of San Diego, Calif.; and one brother, Alvin Marzolf of Thornton, Colo.
His parents; one brother, Walter; and one nephew, James Marzolf preceded him in death.
Honorary casketbearers will be Ervin’s coffee time buddies from McDonald’s on Sixth Avenue.
Casketbearers will be Dwayne Marzolf, Lyle Fey, Gene Brick, Allen Baumann, Jim Opsahl and Jerry Swenson.
The organist will be Sonya Kempf and the ushers will be Dean Click and Art Bretsch.
