JUNEAU, Alaska—
The group behind the Pebble Mine project wants the environmental data it's covered to be considered by a peer review panel. The panel is being convened to evaluate a draft study by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on the impacts of mining on the Bristol Bay region.
EPA has said its study was not about a single project like Pebble but instead a look at the potential impacts of mining in the region.
EPA had set a Tuesday deadline for comments on the questions it proposes to guide the panel's work.
The Pebble Limited Partnership says the panel, among other things, should consider the data it gathered, as well as recognize the need for a mine plan to appropriately consider the issues raised in the EPA study.
