Alaska environmental regulators say Applegate Organic issued a recall of its chicken and apple sausage after consumer reports that small pieces of plastic were found in the product.
Officials say affected packages of Applegate Chicken and Apple Sausage have a USDA mark of inspection of “P-5411” and a “use or freeze by” date of Mar., 17, 2013.
The Alaska Department of Conservation says the product was produced on Jan. 24, 2013 and available in the state.
Officials say there have been no reports of injuries or illnesses as of Feb. 27 when the recall was issued.
The New Jersey based company recalled about 8,424 pounds pounds of sausage.
