Police and Alaska State Troopers arrested 81 drivers being arrested for driving under the influence, as a result of beefed-up patrols during the Labor Day holiday.

In a Tuesday press release, troopers say more than 1,500 citations were issued between Aug. 17 and Sept. 3 in the Anti-DUI and Click It or Ticket campaign.

The majority of those were for speeding.

Troopers or other local law enforcement officers also charged 60 people with driving with a suspended or revoked license.

There were 79 accidents investigated by troopers during the campaign. Eight people were injured, and there were no fatalities.
