An Anchorage man who won the Democratic primary for a House district in Tuesday's election has withdrawn, and the party has replaced him with Kay Rollison.
Division of Elections Director Gail Fenumiai says Hal Gazaway withdrew from the House District 13 race Wednesday. She says in an email that state laws allow the Democratic Party to replace a candidate who withdraws after being nominated.
Gazaway, an attorney, said in a statement that he had to withdraw because he couldn't comply with candidate disclosure requirements without compromising some of his client's confidentiality rights.
Rollison said she was ready to step in to represent the interest of the Muldoon neighborhood in East Anchorage.
Gazaway was unopposed in Tuesday's primary. The Republican in the race, Gabrielle LeDoux, also was unopposed.
