Suspicion is permeating Washington concerning Pakistan's knowledge of Osama bin Laden's whereabouts.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski talked about the millions of dollars the United States has poured into counterterrorism operations in Pakistan and questioned whether Pakistani officials became complacent or averted their eyes to allow bin Laden to hide seemingly under their nose.
"If in fact we now find out that now this aid was used for things that perhaps weren't designed to bring down or capture bin Laden, that they were complacent or not being honest with the information, I think that that could really shatter the relationship that the United States has with Pakistan," Murkowski said.
"We can't get comfortable though; there are still too many who would like to see harm brought to the United States," Congressman Don Young said.
Alaska's congressional delegation thanked military men and women for their dedication to fight the war on terror and for all the work that lead to the death of bin Laden.
"This is a great moment for us, but also a great signal to the rest of the terrorists around the world, saying no matter who you are, where you are, sooner or later we are going to get you," Sen. Mark Begich said.
