Alaska has lost another historic statesman, former congressman Howard Pollock. According to Pollock's son Randy, his father passed away peacefully Sunday at the age of 90 after a stroke followed by complications.

Pollock served as Alaska's lone congressman from 1967 to 1971. He gave up his seat for an unsuccessful run for governor.

Pollock also served as the first deputy administrator for NOAA and as president of the National Rifle Association.
