The U.S. House has passed a resolution naming the courtroom at the Juneau Federal Building after an Alaskan who served for more than 30 years on the federal bench.
KINY reports that if it's ultimately approved, the courtroom would be named after the late Judge Robert Boochever.
U.S. Rep. Don Young, R-Alaska, sponsored the legislation and said it would be a fitting honor.
Boochever served on the Alaska Supreme Court from 1972 to 1980, when he was named to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Boochever died in 2011 after serving more than 30 years as a federal judge.
The Senate will next take up H.R. 4347.
