Same-sex marriage by state

POSTED: 09:57 AM AKDT May 07, 2012    UPDATED: 11:21 AM AKST Nov 18, 2014

A county clerk in Austin, Texas, said Thursday she issued the state's first marriage license to a same-sex couple, acting on the order of a county judge who said the pair couldn't wait for further court decisions because of health reasons. The order applied only to that couple and "any additional licenses issued to same-sex couples also must be court ordered," according to a statement issued by the county clerk. Here's a look at the path same-sex marriage has taken across the country.
