A woman who won the state’s 2012 Prosecutor of the Year award from her peers is now Anchorage’s new district attorney.
The Alaska Department of Law announced Sharon Marshall’s new title Wednesday. She replaces Adrienne Bachman, who has joined the Criminal Division’s central office and will review the state’s policies on prosecuting domestic-violence cases.
Marshall has 25 years of experience in prosecuting cases, ranging from misdemeanors to murders. She was also the prosecutor in the sexual assault trial of former Anchorage police officer Anthony Rollins, which saw him convicted in February 2011 on 18 of 20 counts and sentenced to 87 years in prison in April.
Marshall has worked for the Anchorage district attorney's office since 2001, and will start her new position on Dec. 17.
