The election is Tuesday, but there are some Alaska legislative seats that are essentially clinched.
Democratic Sen. Lyman Hoffman of Bethel faces no opposition after Thursday's deadline for write-in candidates. Republicans Mike Dunleavy of Wasilla and Peter Micciche of Soldotna also are unopposed. Dunleavy defeated Sen. Linda Menard of Wasilla in the August GOP primary, while Micciche upset Sen. Tom Wagoner of Kenai.
On the House side, Democrat Bennie Nageak of Barrow is unopposed. Nageak is set to replace former state Rep. Reggie Joule of Kotzebue, who has since been elected mayor of the Northwest Arctic Borough.
Also unopposed: state Reps. Neal Foster, Bob Herron, Alan Austerman, Beth Kerttula, Cathy Munoz, Mike Hawker, Mike Chenault, Kurt Olson, Dan Saddler, Bill Stoltze, Shelley Hughes, Wes Keller and Steve Thompson.
