Todd Palin is trying to dismiss talk of a rift between him and his wife, former Gov. Sarah Palin, and Alaska Senate hopeful Joe Miller.

The blog site Mudflats obtained an e-mail Todd Palin sent to the treasurer of Sarah Palin's political action committee, Miller and Palin and Miller's attorney. It took issue with what Palin considered Miller's lukewarm response to a Fox News question about whether Miller would support Sarah Palin for president.

Sarah Palin endorsed Miller, and her PAC gave him $5,000.

In the e-mail, Todd Palin questions whether the "endorsement stuff" is to be one-sided.

Todd Palin, in a statement to The Weekly Standard published Wednesday, said he misunderstood Miller's response. He then blamed the media for putting personal e-mails online.

In a statement Wednesday night, Miller's campaign said that he and the Palins are good friends, and that Sarah Palin was “critical” to his Republican primary win.

Miller also said Wednesday that she’s qualified to be president, based on the requirement spelled out in the Constitution. But the Republican and Tea Party favorite, in an interview with Fox News, again stopped short of endorsing a potential 2012 run by Palin, a friend of his who backed him in his race.

Miller repeated a belief he's stated before, that "any one" who steps forward would make a better presidential candidate than President Barack Obama. And he called the whole issue a "sideline" to what's happening in Alaska and an effort to distract from the Senate race.

Miller upset U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the GOP primary, but Murkowski's now running as a Republican write-in candidate. The Democrat in the race is Scott McAdams.
