Former Gov. Sarah Palin made a brief appearance in her hometown of Wasilla Saturday, speaking at a 9/11 remembrance rally held by the Conservative Patriots Group.
“It's just really, really good to be home,” Palin said. “Tonight I'll probably see some of you at Glenn Beck in Anchorage, cheering.”
A Tea Party favorite, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller, was also there.
In a letter to the editor published in the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman, organizers advertised the rally as non-partisan, and said Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Scott McAdams was invited, but Adams reportedly had a scheduling conflict.
Organizers say the rally aimed to bring Valley residents together to honor the victims of 9/11.
“I think it's a good thing,” said Wasilla Mayor Verne Rupright. “We've held these rallies here before in the past, and it's good to keep everybody's spirits up -- we may have differences of opinion on many things, but one thing we have to be sure about is to keep on keeping on, as it were.”
The event also featured a slide show with photos of the 2001 terror attacks.
