State troopers have identified a Dot Lake woman who was shot by her hunting partner Tuesday seven miles east of the community.

Troopers received a 911 call from a man at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday who said he had shot 19-year-old Tarsicia Heath in an accident while moose hunting near Jan Lake.

Initial investigation determined that Heath was killed by a gunshot from a hunting rifle. She was declared dead by Tok medics at about 3:30 p.m.

Heath’s next of kin have been notified. Her body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Anchorage for an autopsy.

AST spokesperson Megan Peters says the man who shot Heath has not been named because troopers are still investigating the incident.
