Alaska State Troopers removed several husky-mix dogs from a North Pole home because they were concerned that the animals were neglected.

Spokeswoman Beth Ipsen says troopers were responding to an unrelated call on Wednesday when they noticed the dogs appeared skinny. They returned two days later with a search warrant and seized six adult dogs and two puppies.

No charges have been filed pending the results of a veterinary examination.

Ipsen says the puppies appeared to be healthier than the adults. She added that it does not appear the dogs were physically abused.
