Two nominees have been selected by the Alaska Judicial Council for a vacancy on the Alaska Supreme Court.
Gov. Sean Parnell will now be asked to appoint either Andy Harrington or Peter J. Maassen.
Harrington is an assistant attorney general in Fairbanks and a graduate of the Harvard University Law School. He has been practicing law for 31 years. Maassen is in private practice in Anchorage and a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. He's been practicing law for nearly 31 years.
The council nominated the two for the vacancy left when Justice Morgan Christen was named to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
The council is a citizens' commission, which includes three attorneys, three non-attorneys and the chief justice of the Alaska Supreme Court.
