Patrick the pumpkin, the largest pumpkin at this year’s Alaska State Fair, weighs 1,723 pounds -- but it wasn’t in the running to win this year’s competition.
A hole in the pumpkin’s cavity disqualified the giant gourd, grown by plumber Dale Marshall in his backyard greenhouse.
Puncture or not, the pumpkin is in rare company. The world record weight for a pumpkin is 1,810 pounds.
