A Mat-Su Borough School District substitute teacher was arrested Thursday on an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Madison County, Idaho, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Tyler Fishback, 18, was arrested near Palmer. An AST dispatch said the warrant stemmed from two charges of lewd conduct with a child under 16 years of age, felonies in the state of Idaho.
Troopers weren't able to provide details Wednesday about the alleged crimes, since they happened outside of the state.
Mat-Su Borough School District spokeswoman Catherine Esary said Fishback was a temporary substitute, not a full-time employee, and that his employment has been terminated. She said all applicants within the district are required to undergo a background check for crimes committed within the state, and fingerprinting through the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Fishback is being held at the Mat-Su Youth Facility on a $50,000 bail pending his extradition back to Idaho, according to AST.
