PALMER, Alaska—
Mat-Su Borough officials wrote a statement warning target shooters that construction workers were in the woods near Point MacKenzie trailhead.On Tuesday, surveyors reported bullets whizzing 20 feet past them near milepost 17 on Point MacKenzie Road.
Officals say the shooters did not know about active surveying in the area and are asking people to spread the word about workers in the area.
Construction work will continue to increase west of Point MacKenzie Road from the port uplands all the way to Alsop Road until after freeze up this fall.
No one was injured in the incident and the surveying crew will post signs in the area alerting people of the dangers of shooting.
