A Palmer man was arrested for assaulting an Alaska State Trooper after trying to flee on an ATV and dragging the trooper on Tuesday evening in Palmer, according to Alaska State Troopers.

28 year-old Gregory R. Mothershead was driving a green 1999 Honda ATV in the middle of road on East Melanie Lane near East Brian Road in Palmer around 6:20 p.m. Tuesday when troopers tried to stop him.

Troopers said Mothershead refused to identify himself and attempted to flee on his four wheeler and dragged a state trooper for over 100 feet before stopping.

AST said the trooper received only minor injuries.

Mothershead was arrested for assault in the third degree and DUI, and held on $10,000 bail.
